My eldest is seventeen now.

He’s really tall and has great cheek bones.

I don’t know if you are supposed to note your son’s cheek bones, but I can’t help it.

He’s taller than his dad…

and of course his mom.

But I still outweigh him!

He’s a great kid.

I’ve got him for another year and a half.

And then he will fly.

There are so many things he needs to know before he goes!

I better start making a list!

  • Kait:

At first I read that as “so many things WE have to know before he goes” and I thought “wow he is really a private one”. LOL.
He is a wonderful looking boy. I am sure he is a nice and he is nice looking. :)

  • Grandma Rita:

He is one great kid and I am very proud of him. Love you, Calder!!!!!!

  • Grace:

What a handsome boy! Happy 17th!

  • Erin:

    So handsome!

This made me have a brief flash-forward to my son being seventeen, I just can’t believe that someday my darling little 4 year old is going to be taller than me (and probably his dad, and probably pushing 7 feet…) and almost be a grown-up!!

  • Kay in KCMO:

So what kind of loot did he score?

    • Rechelle:

Let’s see… probably his favorite gift was a girt cert to an online t-shirt store that he loves. Calder loves to wear t-shirts that have odd stuff on them.

  • km:

Rechelle, he is lovely !! How exciting for all of you. Slap together a recipe book of his favorite things for when he misses home, teach him how to do laundry. Teach him how to sew on a button and tie a tie, how to deposit a check, change oil in the car, :)
My 12 year old passed me out this month. I can’t even believe it. Time really does fly.

  • I can’t believe he’s seventeen! But your kids are kind of stuck in the age they were when you guys lived in Salina. So Calder is perpetually 6 for me! Happy Birthday!!!

  • Dot-Calm:

What a handsome young man. I blinked and my 17 yr old turned 23 this year and got engaged!

Top of my list was to respect women and be a really good friend and boyfriend.

  • Miss Lucy:

He’s got a great jawline, too! Happy birthday!
