Mystery Vacation Photos

October 10th, 2011

We took a short vacation this summer.

It was a relatively sane trip for us.

No camping, no bears, no escaped convicts, no marital breakdowns and no language barriers.

Can you guess where we went?

Look!  I’ll even give you some fabulous clues!

We shot some pool.

We skipped some rocks.

We swam out to the floating dock.

And flipped off backwards.

We climbed a tall tower and took in the view.

And stopped for much needed sustenance.

Don’t worry if you haven’t guessed yet.

There are more vacation photos to follow.

Please try and contain your enthusiasm.

  • Spinny:

I’ll say Wisconsin because there’s a Green Bay Packers sign on the wall of the pool hall.

Also, to confirm my suspicions, I googled the Red Cup Coffee House. :)

  • Veronique:

    Peninsula State Park, Wisconsin?
We were there last year and that curvy road rings a bell to me.
    Lucky you!

  • Having grown up in Illinois and taking most of our vacations to Wisconsin, that’s my guess. Wisconsin, and Michigan too, is simply beautiful to me. Maybe it’s the childhood memories or what seems like never-ending green, but I do love it. I just remember long weeks sitting on a pier, holding a fishing pole with my dad……heavenly.

  • Shelley:

I too googled. Washington Island, WI! More importantly though – you’re back! I’ve missed you!

  • Susan:

    Door County Wisconsin

  • poppy:

Fish boils and sour cherry pie!

  • p.j.:

Next time you drive through Manitowoc (my husband’s birthplace), stop at Beernsten’s for sustenance and hot fudge sundaes in their beautiful ice cream parlor that has not been changed since my deceased mother-in-law went there as a teenager 70 years ago!
Also, I think your kids would enjoy the Wisconsin Maritime Museum -
they can go on the U.S.S. Cobia, a real WWII submarine. My kids loved it when they were young.
Did you get to visit The Ridges, on the south coast of Door County?
    Beautiful nature reserve.
Glad to hear it was a successful vacation. p.j. in STL

  • Hope you bought some cheese curds while on vacay. : )
(I would have said “Say Ya to Da U.P, eh?” until the last photo.)

  • I have no idea where that is, but it looks like a lot of fun.

    Even without the bears.

  • Wherever it is, it looks truly tranquil and soul-soothing. Looks like you all had a great time!

  • Kait:

Looks gorgeous, wherever it is. Just so glad to see you over here again. I miss Rechelle Unplugged updates. :)

  • Carol:

The tower makes me think Door County, Wisconsin. Looks like you had a nice, relaxing vacation.

    • Rechelle:

Door county it is! These photos are from Washington Island. Took a ferry to get there and everything!
