Hey There Delilah

May 19th, 2011

Last night I accompanied my son Ethan as he sang, “Hey There Delilah” at his middle school concert.  (Please note how the guitar covers the mid sectional at just the exact most troubling areas.  I think I will wear it with everything from now on.)  I would also like to point out that ‘Hey There Delilah’ had exactly zero chords with which I was familiar.  Instead, it had seven weird chords and one of them was a bar chord which are super hard to do and I can’t believe I pulled it off.  It took me three weeks to master the song, but I finally got it down.  Now I just want to play “Hey There Delilah” over and over again until my fingers bleed.  It’s a fun little tune to play.

Mike said that Ethan sounded like Harry Connick Junior when he sang, but then again, he is the boy’s father and although not prone to exaggerated accolades, he also does not have what I would call an  – unbiased perspective.   I continue to believe that Ethan sings like an angel… metaphorically speaking of course.

Ooooh it’s what you do to meeeeeeee will be in my head all day now, thank you.

You look so hot, for real! That took a lot of guts for him to get up and sing in front of everyone, and for you to play a song you just learned! I bet you were both fabulous though.

I need audio here Miss. You look great btw.
    I love Delilah

  • I would love to hear it. Hopefully CD took a video?

  • Rachel:

I will also have that stuck in my head all day. It sounds like he – no, both of you – did very well. Seconding the request for audio…

  • Kay in KCMO:

Is “Hey There, Delilah” a well known song? I ask ’cause I’ve never heard of it. Am I out of touch?

I understand not posting video seeing as how Ethan might kill you in your sleep if you did.

Oh, and I envy your guitar playing skills.

  • M.R.:

    I want video as well!
