Country Doctor Exhibits New Symptoms of Increasing Madness

September 30th, 2010

The Country Doctor built himself a stone staircase.

It goes up a hill at the back of our property.

There is nothing back there except an old fence and the neighbor’s field.

Sometimes Dylan, the neighbor’s son uses the steps when he walks over to see Ethan.

So we call them Dylan’s steps.

I’m just glad to see that Stormy, the less showy show cat made the blog for a change!

    • Rechelle:

What do you mean by ‘less showy’ Cassie? Both of my show cats are incredibly showy! If Stormy is better at hiding his showiness that doesn’t mean that he is any less showy than Cookie! It just means he is better at false modesty!

  • LucyJoy:

Wow! Their beautiful! I’m going to have to show my hubby – he builds beautiful rock walls, only with an excavator. Hoorah for the CD for doing it by hand!

  • My back hurts… must be sympathetic back pains.

  • km:

the steps to nowhere. Is he a republican?:) …ducks.!!

i gotta tell ya, even though they lead to not so much, they are absolutely gorgeous. Maybe they are the steps to a new portal. From the depths to the heights…
I love the organic emergence of the the name.
How are his scary trees doing?

  • farmgirl:

your husband and my husband lead parallel lives–anything to cause sweat to drip off of him………

  • susan:

    WHAT drives CD??????????????

  • Kait:

The CD has a folly. Does this qualify as a folly?

Perhaps he did not want Dylan to wear out the grass.

  • I waaaant……..

  • At least the stone steps are pretty.

  • Nanc in Ashland:

If you build it, they will come . . .

CD does lovely work and it does keep him from sneaking into town and stealing hubcaps!

  • Vee:

I don’t have a hill, but I sure want those steps, they are beautiful!!

  • Christine from Canada:

I know, I know, what I’m about to ask sounds so typically pathetic and inner city, but: Does anyone at your house ever just, you know, sit back and watch tv? I’m tuckered just thinking of how he spends his spare time!

  • Jennifer:

Nice! Your husband reminds me of my grandpa–he couldn’t let the grass grow under his feet. Always tinkering, working.. My mom even has photos of him laying down paving squares in the back garden of my parents house (circa 1970) so these steps bring it back. You never know what’s going to spark a happy memory.

  • Kay in KCMO:

Did he give up on the dock and do this instead?

  • Patricia:

At least he isn’t planting trees……

  • Me thinks the CD needs a hobby, like golf or tennis.

  • MissTeach:

Oh, the wives that would give their right arm if their husbands worked as hard as yours at home improvement!! You are very fortunate, as I’m sure you realize. My husband is the same and I guess I need to tell him more often how much I appreciate it. I think the majority of husbands don’t notice or give a rip.

  • Jaime:

Why is there an enormous Jayhawk in the background?

    • Rechelle:

What Jaime? Do you not have an enormous jayhawk in your back yard?

  • Shelley:

I think you should call it “Dylan’s & the Showcats’ Steps”

btw, I think “Dylan & the Showcats” would be an awesome band name!

  • Robbyn:

    Love it!!!!!
