Jack's Magic Hair Trick

March 1st, 2010

Step #1 – Grow bangs well past your eyebrows….

Step #2 – Smooth bangs down for maximum effect…

Step #3- Grimace…

Step #4 – Resolve to be stoic…

Step #5 – Prepare for final approach…

Step #6 – Swing head rapidly to one side…

Step #7 – And then back to the other side…

Step #8 – Hair issue resolved!  (Please note the perfectly curving arc of hair now exposing both eyes and a generous chunk of previously unseen forehead)

Step #9 – Respond with resistance to mother’s request that you do magic hair trick one more time so she can get another photo…

Step#10 – Show displeasure towards mother by furrowing newly exposed brow…

Step #11 – Continue to furrow exposed brow whilst tilting head just a tad to the right to elicit the nurturing response…

Step #12 – Furrow, tilt,  and then wilt a little (discernible only to a mother’s eyes) for maximum sympathy…

Step #13 – Add lip curl in preparation for adolescence…

Step#14 – Narrow eyes because you are your mother’s son…

Step #15 – Relax into large grin as mother gives up…

This hair trick is over…

Child wins again…

As usual….

  • Andrea:

    He is such a cutie!

  • I love the dimples!

  • DirtyKSmama - Nikki:

I have 2 cute, smart, blond girls, ages 10 and 5. They’ll be available someday FAR down the road if your cute dimpled boys are interested in arranged dates someday. My girls wear purple, but they’re very caring and accepting and would probably overlook the blue. ;)

  • Jayne:

    How cute! Love those freckles!

  • Kathy:

    LOVE IT!! What a cutie!

  • Ted Powell:

    Step #13 is a hoot!

  • tonya:

Whoa, dimples, freckles AND blue eyes? What a cutie!

  • Jadehawk:

    lol, nice hair-trick. he’s got a bright future as stylish emo-kid: http://www.emo-site.com/images/emo-boys/emo-boys.jpg

  • That is cute. Aeddon used to do a trick like that… then he asked for a haircut.

  • Funny I have sons who do that trick too! Unfortunately, for them, the trick is soon followed by a trip to the barber shop around the corner.

  • Awwww, Jack is such a cutie pie! :)

  • JulietEcho:

Awesome trick. As someone who has bangs a bit past her eyebrows, I might have to try it out, lol.

  • Martha in Kansas:

The freckles! The dimples! Of course he wins! Who can resist this combination of cute!?! (But my neck kinda hurts from all that head tossing.)

  • That smile was worth an Olympic medal.

  • Inga:

My son is 8 and he has this trick perfected! He hates having his hair cut.

  • Adorable! Love the freckles and the blue eyes. My son is currrently growing his hair out to donate to Locks of Love, so he’s engaging in a lot of hair tricks lately. And I think he’s already got step #13 perfected!

  • MKB:

    Love it!

  • LucyGolden:

Oh my gosh! Jack’s adorable! If you ever tire of him, send him my way. He can do his hair flip trick & I can show him how I used to do the “Jerk” while watching “American Banstand” – my own version of getting my little Pixie bangs out of my eyes!

  • Those dimples would be any mom’s downfall! Too cute for words. My son, Lukas, gives me those looks in steps 10-14 all the time, and is forgiven instantly because of his dimples and overall cuteness. I imagine this is one of your weaknesses too.

  • That’s known around here as the emo hair flip. It’s much cuter on a 7-year-old. Who can resist both freckles and dimples?

  • Jenny:

Oh, my! In that first picture he looks just like Drew!!! The freckles and dimples would do me in, too.

  • Twin-Skies:

Rechelle. Thank you for reminding me that at the tender age of 26, I am now experiencing the signs of male-pattern baldness, meaning that my scalp will be devoid of hair by the time I hit 30.

  • Katherine:

You and your gang have the best fun! Lucky you.

  • aww you have a really cute kid. :) love the freckles!
