I took a walk around the Valentine District of Kansas City last fall and have been saving the photos for the appropriately themed holiday.

Happy Valentines Day… Weekend… Whatever!
The Country Doctor and I were discussing a very important, earth shattering issue of world wide significance last night and I felt the need to share the outcome of the conversation. On more than one occasion, I have heard the story about Ron Howard’s decision to cast Tom Hanks in the role of Jim Lovell, commander of the Apollo 13 mission to the moon. The story goes that even though Tom Hanks was not particularly ‘astronauty’ in his demeanor and [...]
Has anyone been watching The Pillars of the Earth mini-series on Starz or Netflix or some other network? I’ve been keeping up with the latest installments via my best friend Netflix and with each episode I grow more and more dissatisfied. I loved the book and the subsequent World Without End and wrote a post about both books. I was really looking forward to watching the movie adaptation. I remember the book was filled with plenty of debauchery and debasement [...]
. Last year we planted six fruit trees. Two pears, two apples, a cherry and a peach. This year I harvested a dozen pears, a dozen peaches and two apples. We ate the pears. The apples were admired for their mutant appearance and discarded. Hopefully next year they will be mature enough for a better harvest. I decided to save the peaches for a later date. . . I washed them. Peeled them. Coated them in lemon juice and sprinkled [...]
When Rechelle gave me this feature on her blog, she mentioned that an entity known as the God Particle carefully examines each post and, in Its infinite wisdom, decides what kind of an ad to place next to that post, with Its chief criterion presumably being the subject matter of the post. Naturally, I wondered what kind of an ad the Particle would place next to a post about what kinds of sex toys Cardinal Richelieu might have used, and [...]

Thanks for the lovely tour. The neighborhood looks beautiful. Have a Happy Valentine’s Day and weekend too.
Oh I could imagine living in one or two of the houses I saw. How beautiful. I’d want a fence around it though! I find it odd that so many American homes are so open. Mind you, if I didn’t have dogs, I might think otherwise.
I live right by the Valentine neighborhood but haven’t explored it much. Now I have to!
You take beautiful photos! What kind of camera do you use? I need to read my manual and learn how to use my camera one of these days!
Happy Valentines to you too.
Gorgeous photo’s. Have a wonderful weekend in New York!! :)
Hope you’re having a lovely weekend! Thinking of you and your family. :)
Lovely photos! My small city has a historic district with beautiful houses but it’s not quite as well maintained as your Valentine neighborhood.
I just clicked on your sisters blog it’s 18 minutes after the hour and she has a Cover Girl ad running, are you pissed off at her too?
Beautiful!
Okay so I just spent some time clicking around the blog sphere and I have to say a lot of people have the same thing as PW going on their sites? including your sisters site. I don’t think it’s a PW thing.
