Glad to see that your snow shovels come in handy even in July!! I noticed that duty when I took my daughter to the circus..funny you don’t see that when you are young. Definitely a “shitty” job but it could be worse….they’re not elephants! Those guys remind me of the old budwiser commercials! What a hoot!

I think the TVTropes term for having men in wigs and dresses filled with balloons scooping horse poop off the street, rather than some discreet little person with one little broom and shovel, is “lampshading.” I admire it.

That’s quite a crowd! No wonder there needs to be such organization!

We head to the even smaller town of Randolph, KS for the 4th of July parade. No roped areas, no pretty lady scoopers, only about 10 horses, but a great little parade, which is enjoyed right after the turtle races. Love small towns!

Hmm, our small town pooper scoopers are the local 4H kids. Our population doubles 4th of July because everyone wants to see the Macaroni Noodle Band, the bagpipers and the Friends of the Animal Shelter marching with adoptable dogs. The Klamath Falls Oregon National Guard Squadron does a looping flyover right before the start of the parade–they fly a route so they buzz 4 or 5 reginal parades within about 15 minutes. It’s amazing to hear the buzz that builds to a roar as they head down main street.

BTW–it’s so nice your family volunteers. I spent many years working Parks and Rec parades and events and we could never do it without the great volunteers who turn out every time.

The horses in our parade had no pooper scooper ladies following. Our lame small town needs to take a lesson from your much cooler small town.
