Converted Old Tramp Winners Announced!

July 2nd, 2009

The old tramp was converted into a batting cage.

A pitching back-stop or a pitch back was also an acceptable answer.

Pretty much any answer that mentioned the word baseball was acceptable.

Sorry… soccer, golf and football did not make the cut.  I hope to heaven that this thing is not still sitting in my front yard during football and soccer season.

Of the 174 answers, 98 were correct… sort of…

Mr. R.I.G. selected two winners for me.

Random Integer Generator

Here are your random numbers:

I think it’s going to be a batting cage.
72 - Jennifer
Oh, well that looks like a backstop for batting/pitching practice.

Amanda and Jennifer, please email me at mysistersfarmhouse@live.com with your mailing address and which prize you prefer.

  • DirtyKSmama - Nikki:

That’s an impressive-looking batting cage! Who had to sew all that net together?

On a local note – I showed your tramp contest photo to Hubby – he thought it looked like a jock strap for the giant Johnny Kaw at City Park in Manhattan. Oh Dear.

  • Yaya2Three:

I’ve been having trouble loading also—I just thought it was my goofy computer till someone else mentioned it also. And yours is the only site doing it. It loads your banner and usually the title then the hourglass thingy (real technical huh??) comes on at least two more times before I can go any further. And if I have to go back to click on the title it has another several minute delay to reload (or whatever it’s doing). The good thing is that it’s worth the wait to see what you have to say! Thanks! I’m so glad I’m not just stupid with the computer!!!

  • Southern Gal in SC:

Business meeting – Your site seems to take forever to load nowadays. I think it’s the ads and such. I just hit the stop button once your post has loaded and it’s good.

  • Yaya2Three:

Sorry!!!And, as I just found out, the hourglass comes on again after a comment and holds everything up again!

  • E:

not having trouble loading the site, but I wish you’d change your RSS feed so that it shows the whole post in the reader and not just a snip of it. Make it like April’s.

  • Kellye:

The representative from the state of Oklahoma cast her vote as Nay – No problems loading your site.

  • barb:

Yes. Your site frequently freezes, and won’t load. A few times it has been so bad that I can’t even cancel it, and have to reboot to get rid of it.

I love the site, but have actually considered not reading you daily for that reason.

    Hope you get it fixed!

  • Martha in Kansas:

“batting cage” is the term I couldn’t think of! But I think I more or less described it (in a non-sportsman way).

Your side sometimes loads slow, but not always. And not NEAR as slow as April’s site!

  • I’m not the Jennifer that won but I did want to comment on your business meeting. You site stalls when loading. I have to click somewhere on the page, it pops up “internet not responding” for a second, that dissappears and then I can traverse the page without issue after that. Thanks for asking – I thought it was just me.

    • Thanks for letting me know… I will see what is to be done.

  • No problems loading over here. But I do wish I could read your full entries in Google Reader…

    • Sorry Bdaiss – I don’t know how to change to full posts in feed readers on wordpress and it would take me forever to figure it out because I am very slow when it comes to learning stuff on this crazy internet thing. Besides I would miss you terribly if you didn’t visit the actual site. To be honest, there is also an economic aspect to partial posts on feed readers which severely decreases my interest in learning how to change it to full. I only get paid if you come here! Not very much. Trust me, not very much at all… but something. Enough to keep me in ‘soap and stockings’. Very cheap soap and very cheap stockings!

  • barb:

What is moderation? Why won’t my comment post?

    • Sorry Barb – Moderation is used whenever I want to hide the comments from other commenters so no one can cheat on certain contests. Some people use it to keep a certain ‘tone’ on their website or to keep angry comments or obscene comments from showing up on their site. It just means that I have to approve the comment before it posts. I rarely use it. Hope I didn’t just confuse you more!

  • jamoody:

I don’t ever have trouble…with the exception of getting that angel statue picture to show up on your post last week or the week before…everything loads just fine for me.

  • No problems loading your page. BTW, I love the wrong answers, they were great.
    Charity

  • No problems in my section! But I have a question though. Why does it always load with the Farmhouse favs?

    Nothing critical but just wondering.

    • My best guess is that you are loading this page, mysistersfarmhouse.com/favorites/… instead of this page, mysistersfarmhouse.com/…???
Possibly re-check the address that you are going to???

  • No problem loading, but every once in awhile I get a post that’s kinda corny or laced with estrogen, but somehow I don’t think that’s technical problem.

Last weekend, I traveled with the Oracle to catch the Barnyard Boys. I enjoyed the music, but I think, the Barnyard Boys need a better name. What do you think?

    keep up the good work,

  • After reading your wilted lettuce post, I’ve prepared it about a dozen times. Good stuff.

  • Sandy in MI:

This site takes a long time to load, for me anyway. Seriously, I click on your name in my favorites list and then go get a drink of water or use the bathroom to keep myself from banging my head on the desk. I don’t have this trouble with other blogs and I don’t remember it before you switched to the new format.

  • I knew the answer! I knew the answer! No trouble loading your site. The title “Converted Old Tramp” cracks me up.
